HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Barnstable football scores 40 plus points for second straight week

For the second straight week, the Barnstable High School football team scored 40-plus points as they beat New Bedford 45-20 on Friday to move to 2-0 on the season. The Red Hawks have now scored 94 points over their first two games.

Aiden Kundel went 9-for-19 for 235 yards and three touchdowns (eight on the season). Chevy Shakespeare hauled in five receptions for 135 yards and a score and ran four times for 35 yards. Tajardo France rushed seven times for 79 yards and two touchdowns and caught three balls for 76 yards and two more scores (four total). Jadus Roderick led the defense with two interceptions, one sack and three tackles.

Cape Tech 14, Monomoy 12: The Crusaders (1-0) started off their season with a win over the Sharks (1-1) Rovens Jeanbaptiste scored the winning touchdown, while Peyton Morris scored the first points in the game. Dillon Chapman scored both touchdowns for the Sharks, while Reign Stephens had an interception on defense.

Dennis-Yarmouth 34, Dighton-Rehoboth 32: Quarterback Jayden Barber and wide receiver Peyton Kellett connected twice for touchdowns (37 yards and 8 yards) as the Dolphins move to 2-0. Oliver Doto scored two rushing touchdowns (six yards and 30 yards), and Barber also scored on a three-yard rush, for his eighth touchdown of the season.

Barber finished 19-for-29 for 300 yards with three touchdowns, while his favorite target Kellett had seven catches for 184 yards and two scores. Doto had six carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns.

St. John Paul II 18, at Tech Boston Academy 14: Jack Kalkus threw a touchdown and had an interception on the last play of the game that sealed the Lions' (1-1) first win of the season. AJ Hennigan was on the receiving end of Kalkus' touchdown pass, and Daniel Cordeiro had a one-yard rushing touchdown (third of the season). On defense, Oscar Johnson had a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Sandwich 20, Plymouth North 14: The Blue Knights (1-1) won their first game under head coach Robert Lomp.

South Shore 14, Bourne 3: In a defensive battle, the Canalmen (1-1) came up short in their first loss of the season.

East Bridgewater 14, Nauset 10: The Warriors fall to 0-2 to start the season.

Bristol Plymouth 28, Upper Cape 6: The Rams fall to 0-2 on the season.

Sandwich 4, Barnstable 1: The Blue Knights (4-0) remain unbeaten and had four different goal scorers. Alivia Barnes, Khloe Schultz, Quinn Jordan and Megan Dwyer each found the back of the net. The Red Hawks (2-1) lost their first game of the season.

Ally McEneaney scored the first goal on Sandwich defense this season with an assist from Penny Baroni. Meili Raspante had 17 saves through three quarters, and Chloe Egan and Coralle Figueroa also played well defensively.

Nauset 3, Sturgis 1: Lauren Silva scored twice, while Chloe Hand added another goal for the Warriors' (2-1-1) win. Hand, Alexis Robicheau and Abby Powers each dished out a helper for Nauset. Robicheau and Megan Dalmau played well on defense. Sturgis (1-1-1) lost its first game of the season.

Dennis-Yarmouth 2, Notre Dame-Hingham 2: The Dolphins (2-1-2) trailed 2-0 in the third quarter, but came back and ended the game in a tie. Freshman Brooke Chicoine scored both goals, with helpers from Charleigh Hicks, Jenna Richard and Megan McDowell. Goalkeeper Kayla Kelly had five saves in net.

St. John Paul II 1, Middleboro 0: After losing their season opener, the Lions (4-1) have rallied off four straight wins. The lone goal of the game came off the stick of Mia Curley with an assist from Kaylee Anthony. Madi Ross had her third shutout of the season, while Shea Ryan continued her strong play on defense by pushing the ball up to her teammates at every chance.

St. John Paul II 0, Falmouth 0: The Clippers (1-2-2) and the Lions (0-1-2) ended in a draw. Junior goalkeeper Gabriel Paiva had numerous amazing saves for JPII.

Bourne 0, Upper Cape 0: In the last two minutes of the game, the Rams (3-0-1) had a penalty kick opportunity but Bourne (0-2-2) goalkeeper Nathan Reynolds (eight saves) kept the game in a draw. Forwards Quinn Moriarty and Leo Andrade had four shots each, Jake Roux had a strong defensive game (seven tackles, three blocked shots and eight clearouts).

Norwell, 2, Sandwich 1: The Blue Knights (3-1) dropped their first game of the season. Sam Hart scored the lone goal with an assist from Daniel Oman.

Sturgis East 0, Cape Tech 0: The Storm (1-1-2) and Crusaders (0-1-1) ended in a tie. Jace Clady had multiple chances of scoring but could not find the back of the net, while goalkeeper Fabricio Camero had four saves for Cape Tech. Captains Kyle DeFreitas and Gabriel Martens also played well.

Isaac Rocha had his first clean sheet of the season, while Hogan Anderson and Henry Ellis played well on defense for Sturgis East.

Nauset 2, Monomoy 1: The Warriors (3-0-0) remain undefeated in the early season as they beat the Sharks (3-2-0). Omari Perry and Charlie Cushing each scored a goal, and Devin Farrell played well in midfield.

Dennis-Yarmouth 4, Falmouth Academy 1: The Dolphins (1-2-0) won their first game of the season. Fletcher Parsons scored the lone goal in the 35th minute with a shot from 30 yards that sneaked over the goalie’s head. Goalie Jaiden Elber had 12 saves (two breakaways) for the Mariners (0-2-0).

Nauset 3, Monomoy 0: The Warriors (3-1-0) handed the Sharks (3-1-0) their first loss of the season. Olivia Avellar scored all three goals (23', 32', 71'), while Caroline Kennard dished out two helpers.

Bourne 3, Upper Cape 0: Paige Meda scored twice, and McKinley Wenzel scored the other for the Canalmen (3-1-0) in their win. Zoe Ridl played well in the midfield along with Taylor Simard, while Ainsley Hopwood stood out for her defensive effort for Bourne.

Dennis-Yarmouth 1, Falmouth Academy 0: Eight grader Mia Medeiros scored her first goal as a Dolphin (1-2-0) to lead the team to its first win of the season. Sophia Riker and Isabella Power played well at midfield to help hold Falmouth Academy (1-1-0) to no goals.

Norwell 3, Sandwich 1: The Blue Knights (2-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season. Aubrie Schwager scored off a direct kick from Lily Hofmann with 15 minutes to play. Megan Jakubicka, Ayla Whitney, Julia Sutton and Ella Raymond played well on defense while goalkeepers Abi Kinney and Sophie Wanat were solid in the net.

Cape Tech 3, Old Colony 0: The Crusaders improve to 4-1 on the season with a sweep win (25-17, 25-10, 25-16) at home.

Plymouth North 3, Sandwich 0: The Blue Knights (2-3) fell in straight set as the Blue Eagles won 25-18, 25-17, 25-9. Mia Mulcahy had some good saves throughout the game and totaled 8 assists and two aces. Ella McCabe and Alanna Schreibeis each had three kills.

Old Rochester 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: After a two-match winning streak, the Dolphins (2-3) lost to the Bulldogs 25-18, 25-17, 25-20. Mariah Eaton led the offense with 14 kills, while Vivian Castano added 20 assists, and Ava Kvietok contributed four kills. On defense, Juliyana Hristova finished with three blocks, and Ellen Swanson had 14 digs for D-Y.

Nauset 3, Monomoy 0: The Warriors (1-5) won their first match of the season with a sweep over the Sharks (0-4). Stella Smith led the way with 18 assists, while Fiala Gerardi had four kills for Nauset.

Upper Cape 8 1/2, Rising Tide 1/2: The Rams move to 5-1 on the season with a win at Sandwich Hollows par 36. Zephyn Johnson led the way with a 39, while Matt Nawoichik (42), Tyler Kutil (42), Asher Graff (44), Nolan Roche (46) and Harry Gargon (54) rounded out the top six.

Middleborough 111.5, Mashpee 66.5: Liam Hansfrod led the way for the Falcons (0-3) with 12 points.
