HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bailey, Perry lead Abington softball past East Bridgewater

Kasie Bailey and Maddie Perry each went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs Friday as the Abington High softball team won its eight straight game, edging East Bridgewater, 6-4.

Brenna Howley (2-for-3, triple, two runs) and Bella Abrams (1-for-1, run, RBI) also starred at the plate for the Green Wave (11-3). Shannon Varvitsiotis earned the complete-game win, allowing one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts.

Maggie Schlossberg threw a complete game for EB, striking out seven. Riley Egan (two hits, run), Liz McNaught (two hits, two runs, two RBIs) and Brooke Murphy (hit, RBI) led the Vikings’ offense.

SOFTBALL

Notre Dame Academy 2, Whitman-Hanson 1: Shannon Macleod pitched a 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts for NDA (7-5). Lauren White (2-for-3, RBI), Piper Levin (1-for-3, double) and Olivia Mainvielle (1-for-2, steal) also starred. Lauryn Meade pitched a complete-game 4-hitter for Whitman-Hanson with 12 strikeouts. Taryn Leonard had an RBI single for the Panthers.

Archbishop Williams 10, Cardinal Spellman 0: Winning pitcher Shelby Parr, a senior, struck out 12 over 6 innings and allowed 3 hits as the Bishops won on Senior Day. Senior Emma Chenette earned the save with a perfect inning. Senior Emma O’Neill threw to classmate Jess Keefe for the final out. Alyssa Burke was 3-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBIs.

Silver Lake 5, Marshfield 1: Bri Ghilardi’s 2-run double sparked a 4-run first inning for the visiting Lakers (13-1, 12-0 Patriot League). Sam and Alannah Waters, Hannah Selig and Miranda Johnson all had multiple hits, and winning pitcher Delaney Moquin struck out 14.

Oliver Ames 8, Mansfield 3: Katie Melendy earned the complete-game win for OA, striking out 5 and allowing zero earned runs on 6 hits. Emily Martin had a 2-run single, and Melendy also drove in a run.

Weymouth 7, Duxbury 6: Maddie Smith's walk-off single gave the Wildcats a non-league win. Bella Pires and Paige Sellon had big games offensively.

Norfolk Aggie 14, South Shore Tech 4: Sophomore Mia Bradshaw went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles for the Vikings in the road loss. Senior Alexis Mitsiopoulos was 3-for-4 with a double.

Fontbonne Academy 23, East Boston 0: The Ducks won big on the road.

Norwell 2, Scituate 1: The Clippers edged the Sailors at home to pick up a non-league win

BASEBALL

East Bridgewater 1, Abington 0: Ray McNaught pitched a 1-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts, and David McNaught tripled and scored on a passed ball for host EB (10-4, 8-1 South Shore League). Sean Kenn, Nick Capocci and David McNaught were defensive standouts for the Vikings, who qualified for the Division 3 playoffs.

Archbishop Williams 13, Bristol-Plymouth 5: Wilfred Santiago was 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a pair of doubles, 3 runs and 4 RBIs for the host Bishops. Bryan Cahill (1-for-2, 2 walks, 3 RBI), Josh Turcotte (3-for-4) and Stephen Ondrick (2 RBIs) also starred. Greg Mayo earned the win on the mound.

Canton 1, Stoughton 0: Hayden Rose pitched a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts for the host Bulldogs. Owen Lane went 3-for-3, and Matt Lesser had an RBI triple.

Cohasset 9, Carver 4: Luc Nivaud hit a leadoff home run to spark the Skippers (6-8, 5-4) to a South Shore League road win. Luc Lefevre posted his second win of the week on the mound, and freshman Kevin Sweet notched the save. It was a breast cancer awareness fundraising game for Carver. Proceeds benefitted Sisters United Against Cancer.

Mashpee 6, Hull 3: The Pirates lost at home.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Norwell 12, Duxbury 9: Charlise Cox had 4 goals, an assist and 4 draw controls as the Clippers won a non-league game at home. Maddie McDonald (3 goals, assist), Caroline Burtch (goal, 2 assists), Chloe Kirchner (8 caused turnovers) and Charlotte Pithie (7 saves) also starred for Norwell (10-4).

South Shore Tech 13, East Bridgewater 7: SST won a non-league road game. Lilia Fagundes scored 4 goals for EB, and Ava Mooney, Brooke Lydon and Mackenzie Gray added one each.

Weymouth 13, King Philip 8: Megan Doyle had 7 points and 13 draw controls for the Wildcats in the road win. Cameron Flaherty (5 points), Mira Flaherty (4 points) and Anya Younie (7 saves) also starred.

Silver Lake 9, Whitman-Hanson 8 (OT): Cloe Geraigery (5 goals) and Maggie Keller (6 saves) led the Lakers to a win on Senior Night. Caitlin Dilley scored twice, and Brielle Cote and Grace Faherty added goals.

Plymouth North 16, Falmouth 6: The Blue Eagles won at home.

Notre Dame Academy 15, Franklin 6: The Cougars (16-0) won at home.

BOYS LACROSSE

Marshfield 19, Nauset 7: The Rams (11-3) won at home over Nauset (11-3), the top-ranked team in Division 2. Marshfield entered the game ranked No. 13 in Division 1.

Silver Lake 11, Mansfield 10 (OT): Brandon Cavicchi (3 goals, 3 assists) netted the OT winner and pushed his season point total to 103 for the Lakers. Cole Miller had 4 goals, and Ryan Green (2 goals), David Solari (goal, 2 assists) and Noah Palleschi (goal, 2 assists) also starred.

East Bridgewater 13, Cardinal Spellman 12: The Vikings won a non-league game on the road.

Southeastern 7, South Shore Tech 6 (2 OT): Thomas Hustins had a hat trick for the Hawks in the win.

Blue Hills 6, Upper Cape 2: The Warriors won at home.

GIRLS TENNIS

Oliver Ames 3, Mansfield 2: Hannah Farber and Olivia Querzoli won at first and second singles, respectively. OA’s final point came from the second doubles team of Marina and Ella Mierzwinski.

BOYS TENNIS

Pembroke 3, Rockland/East Bridgewater 2: For Rockland/EB (5-3), Nick Mesheau won at second singles, and Will Cifrino and Mo Asad won at second doubles. On Thursday, Rockland/EB beat Norwell, 5-0, with singles wins from Petr Quinn (No. 1), Mesheau (No. 2) and Leo Monteiro (No. 3) and doubles wins from Logan Maguire/Kaden Gerstel (No. 1) and Cifrino/Asad (No. 2).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Braintree 3, Quincy 1: The Wamps beat the Presidents (8-9) on the road.
