High school football in Acadiana: Live updates from Week 3

Some high school football teams such as Acadiana, Carencro, Lafayette and the like from District 3-5A have already entered district play by Week 3 while most teams from the area are still wading through the non-district portion of their schedules.

The mixed slate of games across Acadiana leads to some intriguing matchups, headlined by the state championship-caliber, out-of-district showdown at St. Thomas More between the Cougars (2-0), the defending Select Division II champs, and Brother Martin (2-0), who fell to John Curtis for the Select Division I state title last season.

Thursday night's district rival matchup between Carencro (2-0) at Southside (2-0) is another game to watch as Bears quarterback Chantz Babineaux has been one of the early-season stars in the area.

Other interesting contests: Breaux Bridge (1-1) at St. Martinville, (0-2), Jesuit (1-1) at Lafayette Christian (2-0) and Teurlings Catholic (2-0) at St. Charles (2-0).

Stay tuned here for score updates from local teams.
