High school boys basketball: Sackets Harbor to play Faith Heritage in sectional final
Feb. 29—Sackets Harbor will face Faith Heritage in the Section 3 Class D boys basketball championship Saturday afternoon in Syracuse.
Faith Heritage (20-3) defeated New York Mills 76-74 in overtime Thursday night in a postponed semifinal to advance to the sectional final.
Sackets Harbor (22-1) will play Faith Heritage at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena.
Sackets Harbor faced Faith Heritage in the Section 3 Class D-2 final in 2012, the year the Patriots won the state title. Sackets Harbor won that game 61-36 in Sandy Creek.
Sackets Harbor last played Faith Heritage in sectionals 10 years ago, winning 47-40 in overtime against the Saints in the first round at Sackets Harbor. In 2013, Faith Heritage defeated Sackets Harbor 51-43 in a Class D quarterfinal in Syracuse.
In Thursday's game, Faith Heritage's Westin Retzos scored 29 points and Jack Marziale added 23 to overcome 42 points from New York Mills' Tim Kirilko.
