High school baseball: Wall Hawks named to Blue Bell/TSWA all-state teams
Several players from Wall's state finalist baseball team were named to the Class 3A Blue Bell/Texas Sportswriter's Association all-state teams on Tuesday.
The Hawks climbed their way to the Class 3A state final game against Boyd at Dell Diamond but fell short of a state title in a 6-4 loss. In Jason Schniers last game as the team's head coach, the Hawk's seventh-inning rally could not pull off the upset and give the program their second state title and first since 2019. Many of the starters from last year's team will return next season in pursuit of a state championship under new head coach Jeremey Gordon.
The Texas Sportswriter's Association is a group of local sports writers and editors from daily and weekly newspapers across the state of Texas as well as sports internet services.
Here are the local players named to the Blue Bell/TSWA all-state teams:
First Team
Pitcher - Luke Kemp, Wall, sophomore
Second Team
Catcher - Gunnar Dillard, Wall, sophomore
Third Team
Pitcher - Kellan Oliver, Wall, freshman
First baseman - Dylan Gidney, Wall, junior
Honorable Mention
Shortstop - Augden Hallmark, Wall, junior
