Need a hero? Marvel Nights highlight South Bend Cubs' six-game homestand at Four Winds

The South Bend Cubs return home to host the West Michigan Whitecaps in a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday in High A minor league baseball at Four Winds Field.

All homestand games take place at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South Street, South Bend. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthBendCubs.com or by calling the Box Office at 574-235-9988. The box office is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekend game days until the seventh inning.

After last week's short three-game series against Quad Cities, South Bend is now dead last in the Midwest League's West Division at 6-12 in the second half. West Michigan is 8-10 in the East Division, sitting in fourth place and four games behind Fort Wayne. Cedar Rapids, which won the West Division's first half, leads the second half at 11-6.

Tuesday's game (7:05 p.m.) is Tail Waggin Tuesday when fans can bring their dogs to the ballpark. It is also Be My Neighbor Day featuring Daniel Tiger and a Triple Play Tuesday when fans can purchase a hot dog, 24 ounce fountain soda and a game ticket for just $13. Triple Play tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.

Wednesday will be an afternoon affair beginning at 12:05 p.m.

Thursday (7:05) is Thirsty Thursday with $2 fountain drinks and domestic draft beer. It is also Craft Beer night with game tickets available that include food, collectible South Bend Cubs beer bat and sampling of over 60 different craft beers from around the region.

Friday (7:05) will include post-game fireworks and is Girls Scout Night.

Saturday (7:05) is Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond Night when the Cubs will wear special Marvel jerseys with a guest appearance by Spiderman. It is also Spin to Win Saturday when nine fans can spin a wheel for prizes.

Sunday (2:05 p.m.) is Super Hero Day when the first 1,000 kids through the gate will receive a special comic book and the Cubs, again, will be wearing Marvel jerseys with an appearance by Ant-Man. It is also Sunday Funday with a pre-game autograph session with players and an opportunity for fans to play catch on the field prior to the game.

Leaders for South Bend include Ezequiel Pagan with a .322 batting average, Kevin Alcántara with nine homers, 49 RBI and 49 runs scored. Fabian Pertuz has 13 stolen bases.
