Here's why Jarrod Cook is leaving Trinity Presbyterian for Lee-Scott

Trinity Presbyterian School announced Monday the resignation of head baseball coach Jarrod Cook, after accepting a position at Lee-Scott Academy.

Cook was preparing for this third season as head coach for Trinity and 15th season overall coaching alongside AHSAA Hall of Fame coach Ken Whittle where they won multiple state championships (2012, 2013, and 2015). In 2022 Cook led Trinity to it's seventh 3A state championship.

In a statement released to Trinity, Cook spoke on how special Trinity will always be to him and his family.

"The opportunity to fulfill a calling and serve alongside so many wonderful people along the way," Cook said. "Trinity has been a special place for me and my family going on 15 years now, and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts."

“It’s really just God’s timing,” Cook said. “I’ve just learned in my faith and through my career you’ve got to say yes to God and no to people. It’s a good situation, great place to live, similarities between Trinity and Lee-Scott."

According to Tim Gayle, Trinity has replaced its head of school, athletic director, head football coach and seven of the eight football assistants. In May Brian Seymore was announced as the new AD and head coach for Trinity.

"It’s just not something we’re used to at Trinity,” Cook said. “We won’t know why these changes are happening and may not see that for a long time, but for the time being, this is what’s best. I’ve got to think more than just baseball. Our program was in a really good place. But I’ve poured so much into other kids for so long and missed time with my own kids. Now it’s time to do what’s right for my kids and my family.

"Auburn has always been a place where my wife and I have talked about living. With everything that has unfolded at Trinity and the direction we’re going."

Multiple Trinity baseball players expressed their gratitude and well wishes to Cook via Twitter after hearing the news in Monday's player meeting.

Rising senior Brady Rascoll finished last season with a batting average of .304 and 24 RBIs. In a tweet he thanked Cook for everything and ended with a "Blue collar forever!".

"Thank you Jarrod Cook for everything you have done for me and this program. You will surely be missed, and you're going to do great things at LSA. Blue collar forever!"

Cook also served as the football team's defensive line coach so with his recent departure, softball coach Stan Milton is the lone remaining Trinity coach staying with Seymore's staff.

“Now we’ve got to find another football coach. We’ve got to find somebody to fill that role as well as find the best baseball coach we can to fit the program.” Seymore said.

Trinity will immediately begin the search for a new head baseball coach. Interim head of school Suzanne Satcher shared her sincere gratitude and final remarks on Cook's departure.

"We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Jarrod Cook for his unwavering commitment to our baseball program," Satcher said. "He has been an exemplary role model and mentor for our student-athletes. We wish Coach Cook and his family all the best in his future endeavors."
