Hartselle's Jack Smith signs with Arkansas baseball

Nov. 16—HARTSELLE — Hartselle lefty Jack Smith signed his letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He'll join the team next year.

"I'm truly blessed," said Smith. "This is what I've worked my whole life for. It's amazing feeling."

Smith had multiple opportunities to go different places, but ultimately Arkansas, which has been to 11 College World Series, felt like the best fit, he said.

"When I met with the coaches, saw the facilities and the town itself, I knew that's where I needed to be," Smith said.

Smith moved to Hartselle in the sixth grade and credited the Tigers' program for allowing him the opportunity to play SEC baseball.

"I wouldn't be the player I am today if I didn't come to Hartselle," Smith said. "Coming over here made all the difference."
