Hartman expected to lead Cowboys golf team
Mar. 27—The Abilene Cowboys golf team returns some experienced golfers this season for 23-year head coach Mark Willey and assistant coach Shawn Herrman.
Expected to lead the Cowboys with two years of varsity experience is junior Aaron Hartman. As a sophomore, Hartman narrowly missed qualifying for the state tournament a year ago by just one shot.
In total five varsity letter winners return for Abilene including Kayden Timm, CJ Brooks, Trent Haslour, and Brayden Simpson.
Head coach Mark Willey commented: " We have a handful of returnees and a few freshmen that have a chance to make varsity. Aaron had a really good sophomore season, and seems motivated as he has continued working on his game. We need Kayden and CJ to consistently play well to help the team. We just need to improve every day, as we want to be playing our best golf in the month of May. The NCKL will once again be tough competition, and I expect Wamego to once again be the favorites."
