Harrison Bryant wins Maurice Bassett Award as top rookie in Browns camp

Congrats are in order for tight end Harrison Bryant. The fourth-round pick from Florida Atlantic has been awarded the Maurice Bassett Award as the top-performing rookie in training camp.

Bryant captured the honor in a vote from credentialed media. He beat out Jedrick Wills, Grant Delpit and others in shining the brightest among the Browns rookie class during the two weeks of training camp sessions open to the media.

Bryant impressed with his receiving ability while taking most of his snaps with the second-team offense. He’s expected to see some time with the starters during the season as part of a talented TE room that also includes Austin Hooper and David Njoku.

Past winners of the award include Mack Wilson last season, Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett, Carl Nassib, Danny Shelton and Christian Kirksey. The honor, named after the Browns fullback from the 1950s, was first awarded in 1985.
