Harris, Wildkats upend Rangers, 5-1

Aug. 27—LIVINGSTON — Josie Harris scored a hat trick for the Columbia Falls Wildkats in a 5-1 win against the Livingston Rangers in Northwest A soccer on Saturday.

Harris also scored four goals Friday against East Helena, which the Wildkats won 10-0. Hope McAtee had two assists, one on Mila Johns' first-half goal, and the other on Harris' second goal.

Bella Mann made it 3-0 just before the half.

"It was great to get a really competitive game against a playoff team from last year this early in the season," Wildkats coach Thomas Clark said.

"Josie Harris has proven that she is taking her game to another level this fall and Hope McAtee continues to be one of the best facilitators I've seen at this level. I'm really proud of how they both stepped up."

LIVINGSTON — Traic Fainter scored twice to help the defending state champion Columbia Falls Wildcats to a 5-3 victory over the Livingston Rangers in a rematch of last year's State A soccer championship game.

"Up until the last 15 seconds of the first half it was the same scoreline as the championship game: They got us with a penalty kick with 15 seconds left in the half," Wildcats coach O'Brien Byrd said. We made some mistakes but I'm proud of them. They just had to grind it out and survive and get the win, learn from that game and apply to the next game."

River Wolford, Kai Golan and Max Everett also scored for Columbia Falls, who beat East Helena 10 — 0 on Friday.

Up next is Frenchtown in the home opener for Columbia Falls. Girls play at 4 p.m. and boys take the field at 6 p.m.
