Hardin Valley Academy baseball coach is under investigation and on paid leave

Hardin Valley Academy baseball coach Tyler Roach has been placed on paid leave, pending an investigation, Knox County Schools spokesperson Carly Harrington said Dec. 7. She declined to say why.

"Because this investigation is continuing, we are unable to comment further at this time," Harrington said in a statement to Knox News.

No other students or coaches are on leave, Harrington said. An interim appointment will be made to lead the team in Roach's absence.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating, spokeswoman Kimberly Glenn told Knox News.

Roach was hired as Hardin Valley coach in 2018 to replace Joe Michalski. A graduate of Karns, Roach played college baseball at Chattanooga State Community College and East Tennessee State. He was on the staff for three seasons at Bearden before being hired by Hardin Valley.
