HARBOR SPRINGS — Now that the weather has heated up around northern Michigan, so too have area golf teams.

A night after many within the Lake Michigan Conference hit the links at Boyne Mountain, they returned to action on Tuesday at The Highlands of Harbor Springs.

The LMC programs took to The Highlands’ Moor course in a Harbor Springs hosted match, where Traverse City St. Francis took the top spot, though Charlevoix wasn’t far behind in third by just three strokes.

The host Rams also continued to make strides on the course.

“We took another step forward, working our team score lower in each of our last four matches,” Harbor Springs coach Pete Kelbel said. “We seemed to shoot 358 easily with too many three putts and bad chips. We can improve in that area for sure. Lots of room for improvement, but the boys are making progress in this ultra short season.”

St. Francis carded a 327 for the win, followed then by Charlevoix’s 330, Elk Rapids with a 342; Boyne City, 351; Harbor Springs, 358; Kalkaska, 366; East Jordan, 380; and Grayling, 412.

St. Francis also had a pair share the medalist positon for the day, as David Ansley and Josh Slocum each shot 77. Boyne City’s Andrew Stadt was then third with a 78.

Charlevoix's Sam Pletcher helped the Rayders to a runner-up finish by just three strokes Tuesday in Harbor.

Charlevoix was led on the day by Emmett Bergmann with a 79, while Hudson Vollmer shot 83, Bryce Boss and Sam Pletcher each shot 84 and Jack Herzog carded an 88. Henry Herzog also shot 95.

Along with Stadt for Boyne City, Ryan Reynolds shot 88, Jack Neer, 91; Carsen Dittmar, 94; Alex Calcaterra, 96; and Jack Snyder, 98.

The Rams had another strong day from Carson Chumbler out of the top seed, as he led with an 85, then Chase Lafaive added an 88, Mitchell Caron, 90; Olin Alonzi, 95; Jacob Piper, 98; and Forrest Neff, 114.

East Jordan’s Jonathan Ringstrom led for the Red Devils with an 84, Ty Burks shot 88; Mason Balch, 103; Steven Anderson, 105; and Scott Lyons, 115.

The recent run of LMC matches will conclude on Saturday, May 20 at Antrim Dells, where the annual league championship round will be held.
