Canyon' Burris and Jesko and Rebstock voted Happy State Bank Athletes of the Week
Canyon baseball's Jacob Burris and tennis' Brylee Jesko and Brooke Rebstock have been voted the Happy State Bank Male and Female High School Athlete of the Week for May 13-18.
Burris went 3 for 4 with two triples and four RBIs, including the game-winner in the seventh inning of Game 1 against West Plains in the Class 4A area playoffs.
The girls doubles tandem of Jesko and Rebstock won their first match in the Class 4A girls doubles draw at the UIL State Tennis Tournament to finish the season as state semifinalists.
Burris received 329 of the 509 votes cast for male athlete of the week, which was 64.6% of total votes.
Jesko and Rebstock drew 19,718 of the 31,645 votes cast for female athlete of the week, which was 62.3% of total votes.
Students in all varsity sports were eligible and could only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school could not win more than three consecutive weeks.
Next week Athlete of the Year voting will commence including the winning male and female athletes who received the most votes during the 2023-24 school year.
