Hamilton golfer Eli Timmerman qualifies for state tournament

HAMILTON - Hamilton golfer Eli Timmerman qualified for the state tournament for the third time in a round.

The senior shot a 77 to finish fifth overall and first among individual qualifiers a tthe Division 2 regional tournament on Thursday at Diamond Springs.

The top three teams - Grand Rapids Christiani (296), South Christian (323) and Unity Christian (327) - and top three individuals qualified.

Hamilton finished tied for fifth as a team with Zeeland West.

In addition to Timmerman, Ben Boehm was 15th (82), while Jackson Hansen (91), Max Meiste (98) and Keaton Haverdink (109) scored for the Hawkeyes.

The Dux were led by Logan Bomers and Malachi Le, who each shot 79s to tie for ninth overall. Tyler Baumann shot a 93, followed by Tyler Engelsman (97) and Ben Keunink (100).

Holland finished ninth. Andrew Legg shot an 85 to finish 21st overall. Sam Payne shot an 87, followed by Preston Logan (88), Oscar Miller (102) and Connor Huizinga (102).

Holland Christian finished 11th. Barrett Blondin shot a 88 to finish 32nd, followed by Jude Dine (91), Harrison Halbert (93), Ethan Hertgers (97) and Maxwell Apotheker (105).

Zeeland East was 13th. Jacob Middleton shot an 81 to finish 14th overall. Jace Fenlon shot an 86, while Kole Meschke (97), Grady VanDyke (108) and Tanner Treacy (114) also scored.
