Hamilton boys track races to OK Blue title; Holland Christian, West Ottawa, Saugatuck fast

The Hamilton boys track and field team won the OK Blue Conference championship on Friday.

The Hawkeyes scored 166.5 to finish ahead of Holland Christian (117), Allendale (115) and the rest of the field.

Hamilton's Ben Boehm won the 100 meters in 11.10 and the 200 (22.45).

Josh Langeland won the 400 meters (50.56) ahead of Holland Christian's Brody DeKruyter (50.60).

Hamilton's Hudsen Hurst won the 100-meter hurdles (15.33). Lincoln Phillips won the 300 hurdles (42.25) and was third in the high jump (6-0). Abatu Dykstra took third in the 1,600 (4:37.20).

Austin VanderKamp, Emilio Calderon, Boehm and AJ Friediechsen won the 4x100 relay (44.28). Jeren Bronkhorst, VanderKamp, Boehm and Phillips won the 4x200 (1:32.08). Dykstra, Langeland, Gabriel Schrotenboer and Friedriechsen won the 4x400 (3:31.44).

Logan Eding took second in the shot put (48-8 1/2).

Holland Christian's Will Engbers won the 3,200 (9:49.09).

Joe Strabbing won the high jump (6-0). Nathan Bengelink won the pole vault (12-6), going 1-2 with Will Johnson (12-0). David Van Duinen took second in the 300 hurdles (42.57) ahead of Josh Bruxvoort (43.23). Bruxvoort took third in the long jump (20-3).

In the girls meet, Holland Christian was second with 120.5, finishing behind Hudsonville Unity Christian (156.5). Hamilton was seventh with 50 points.

Holland Christian's Chloe Chesser was second in the 100 (13.21) and third in the 200 (27.37). Olivia Hollebeek was second (1:00.38). Eliana Stob was third in the 800 (2:26.72). Ellery Lampen took second in the 3,200 (11:51.34) and third in the 1,600 (5:23.25). Camryn Siegers took third in 5-0.

Chesser won the long jump in 16-11 and Halma was second (16-9 1/2).

Adelyn Halma, Avery Brower, Chesser and Abbe Baas won the 4x100 (51.62). Stob, Layla Geurink, Grace Fenton and Hollebeek won the 4x800 (10:02.76).

Hamilton's Aliyah Springer won the shot put (36-2) and discus (126-4). Bella Tamminga won the pole vault (10-0).

West Ottawa takes third in OK Red

The West Ottawa boys and girls track and field teams finished third at the OK Red Conference meet.

The girls scored 105 points to finish behind East Kentwood (195) and Rockford (153). Grand Haven was fourth (101), followed by Jenison (41), Hudsonvill (36), Caledonia (19) and Grandville (14).

The West Ottawa boys scored 105.5 to finish behind Rockford (130.5) and Grand Haven (114) and ahead of Caledonia (93.5), East Kentwood (91), Jenison (81.5), Grandville (27) and Hudsonville (21).

Helen Sachs won the 1,600 (5:03.30) and 3,200 (10:40.07). Ava Porras was third (11:31.74).

Ella Wierks won the 400 (58.78) and was third in the 800 (2:19.97). Collette Wierks took second in the 300 hurdles (46.68). Allinna Teav was fourth in the long jump (16-7).

The Wierks sisters teamd with Addie Birkholz and Emma Gunnett to win the 4x400 relay (3:58.54). Sachs, Birkholz, Porras and Lyla Dowling won the 4x800 (9:19.19).

West Ottawa went 1-2-3 in the 100 meters with Desmond Chapa (11.02), Ruben Esparza (11.13) and Andrew Spilotro (11.15). The same trio went 1-2-3 in the 200 with Chapa (21.94), Esparza (22.08) and Spilotro (22.27).

Craig Traylor Jr. took third in the 300 hurdles (41.60).

Saugatuck wins Little Guys Invite

The Saugatuck track and field teams swept the Gobles Little Guys Invite on Friday.

The boys edged Three Oaks River Valley 91-78 and the girls held off Gobles 134-102.5.

The Saugatuck girls broke the school record in the 4x100 relay. Novella DeGraaf, Brook Simpson, Mazie Robison and Vivian Vallarsa finished in 50.99.

Robison won the 100 (13.60), 100 hurdles (15.57). Simpson won the 400 (59.17). Kamryn Sixberry was second in the 1,600 (5:43.07) and third in the 800 (2:37.38). Lyvia Curtis was third in the 1,600 (5:51.18) and 3,200 (13:03.28). Niki McNeil won the discus (110-9 1/2). DeGraaf won the pole vault (10-3).

Marcus Silva was second in the 1,600 (4:51.51) ahead of Sawyer Monroe (4:54.74). Nick Petrik was third in the 400 (55.39).

Cass Stanberry was third in the long jump (20-4).

The Fennville girls took seventh (35) and the boys were 12th (23). Black River's boys took 11th (24) and the girls took 17th (4).

Black River's Jake VanderHenst won the 200 (23.30) and was third in the 100 (11.85).

Fennville's Elia Ruiz Izquierdo took fourth in the long jump (14-5 1/2).
