H.S. track: Roby girls win Class 1A state title

AUSTIN – Sometimes enough second-place finishes adds up to No. 1 – a team title for the Roby girls at the Class 1A state track and field meet Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Lady Lions nabbed three silvers in three events, including the 1,600-meter relay, to win the state team championship with 47 points – seven more than Nazareth and Lamesa Klondike. Cross Plains was sixth with 32, and Moran tied two other schools for ninth (20).

It's the first state track title for the Roby girls, and it comes on the heels of Stamford sharing the Class 2A girls title with two other teams the night before.
