H.S. Softball/Baseball: Lake-Lehman softball rolls past Hazleton Area

Mar. 25—Hannah Chipego was 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles and also struck out nine as the Lake-Lehman defeated Hazleton Area 11-1 in five innings Monday in high school softball.

Kirsten Finarelli was 2-for-2 with a triple, double and three RBI.

Elia Tito had two singles for Hazleton Area.

Dallas 21, Wyoming Seminary 4

Abby Cruz had two home runs and Sophia Maier added another as Dallas won in three innings.

Maier finished with five RBI. Cruz and Carolyn Comitz had four each. Comitz also had three doubles.

Natalie Bobeck paced Seminary with a double and two RBI. Rosey Kelly had a double and single.

H.S. BASEBALL

Scranton 9, Wilkes-Barre 1

Scranton scored four runs in the first inning and limited Wilkes-Barre Area to three hits.

Koleton Davies had a single and scored WBA's only run. Jake Howe had a double and Derrick Nah singled to account for the other hits.

North Pocono 7, Berwick 1

Two North Pocono pitchers limited Berwick to one hit while the offense opened the game with a four-run first inning.

Gabe Evensen singled for Berwick.

Loyalsock 11, Lake-Lehman 1

Four Loyalsock pitchers held Lake-Lehman to two hits while striking out 11.

The Lancers put away the game with nine runs in the final two innings.

Chris Sholtis had a double and Sam Plummer singled for Lehman's hits.

Holy Redeemer 5, Carbondale Area 2

Nick Mazzarella struck out five over four innings to pick up the win for Holy Redeemer. Zach Schultz threw the final three innings for the save.

Jack Hurst had two singles and an RBI for the Royals. Schultz, Drew Cisney and DJ McDermott all had a single and an RBI.

Spring-Ford 7, Hazleton Area 2

Spring-Ford scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to snap a 1-1 tie and go on to a win.

Richie Rossi had two of Hazleton Area's five hits. Antonio Doganiero, Shea Higgins and Nick Ledger also had hits. Marcos Gil Pena and Dominic Marino had an RBI each.

Mahanoy Area 6, Hanover Area 4

Brady Fallon blasted a home run and a double for Hanover Area, but the host Hawkeyes fell to Mahanoy Area.

Fallon finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.

Mahanoy Area was led by Justin De La Rosa, who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double.
