H.S. Roundup: Stedman’s FTs win it for Lady Gales: Aces go on the road to knock off BC

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lancaster 42, Pickerington North 41: Molly Stedman drained two free throws with four seconds left to lift the Lady Gales to a Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division road win over the Panthers.

Amanda-Clearcreek 39, Bloom-Carroll 36: The Aces (7-1, 4-1) picked up a huge Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win in the road, and in the process, handed the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

Grace Davis led the Aces with 15 points, Taylor Evans finished with 11 and Kaylie Wilson added seven.

Emily Bratton led the Bulldogs (7-1, 4-1) with 12 points and Marissa Wilkinson added 11.

Circleville 39, Fairfield Union 32: The Falcons fell short in their MSL-Buckeye Division game against the Tigers. Maycee Martindill led the Falcons with nine points.

Newark Catholic 56, Fisher Catholic 52: The Irish (5-1) suffered their first loss of the season in a non-conference game against the Green Wave.

Ellie Bruce led FC with 28 points and Voni Bethel added 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

Lancaster 51, New Albany 35: The Lady Gales had no trouble with the visiting Eagles in a non-conference win.

Jenna Grabans led Lancaster with 20 points, Kylan Pugh and Molly Stedman finished with eight points each and Emalene Chevalier chipped in six points.

Bloom-Carroll 55, Logan Elm 29: Emily Bratton scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to help lead the Bulldogs to a MSL-Buckeye Division win over the Braves.

Tessa Brooks added 13 and Marissa Wilkinson finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0).

Amanda-Clearcreek 50, Liberty Union 42: Led by a balanced scoring attack, the Aces (6-1, 4-1) were able to get past the Lions in MSL-Buckeye Division play.

Taylor Evans led the way for the Aces with 18 points, Grace Davis and Kaylie Wilson added 10 points each and Allie Leist chipped in six points.

Gabby Howell led the Lions with 10 points, Brooklyn Angelo finished with eight points, while Ella Brown and Haeden Brunty chipped in seven points each.

Fairfield Union 37, Hamilton Township 32: The Falcons picked up an MSL-Buckeye Division win over the Rangers. Taylor Smeck and Maycee Martindill led the way with 10 points each.

Fisher Catholic 61, Berne Union 7: The Irish cruised in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Rockets.

Voni Bethel led the Irish with 24 points, including five 3-pointers, and she added eight assists and six steals. Ellie Bruce finished with 14 points, Jayda Dixon had eight points and four assists and Sydney Snoke chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. Sydney Ellis had six steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bloom-Carroll 57, Granville 53: The Bulldogs overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to pick up a non-conference road win over the Blue Aces.

Jase Rockwood led a balanced attack with 17 points, Tryce Chaffin had 14, Jackson Wyant chipped in 11, Carson Davis had nine and Park Truex added six points.

Watterson 66, Lancaster 45: The Gales fell behind early and could never catch up in their non-conference loss to the Eagles.

Canon Ailes led Lancaster with 16 points, JD Thomas added 10 and Colton Bruny and Tyler Carpenter chipped in seven points each.
