H.S. Roundup: Fairfield Union’s Christian Thompson breaks school record with 31 kills

VOLLEYBALL

Fairfield Union tops Rams: The Falcons are off to a 3-0 start after their 25-5, 25-11, 25-14 non-conference win over Whitehall.

Junior Christian Thompson broke the school record for kills in a game with 31, adding five aces and five digs. Alyssa Thompson had 33 assists, Cara Miller finished with 12 digs, Addy Wolfe had five kills and two blocks, and Josie Kraft was 20 of 20 serving.

Lancaster 3, Teays Valley 0: The Lady Gales opened the season with a 25-24, 25-15, 25-14 non-conference win over the Vikings.

Chandler Crowell had seven kills and five blocks, Cidney Sark had seven kills, Jenna Grabans finished with seven kills and three blocks and Madi Kemp added 32 assists, one kill and one block.

Fisher Catholic falls to CW: The Irish dropped their season opener, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 against Canal Winchester.

Ellie Bruce had 10 kills, four solo blocks, four assisted blocks and two aces for the Irish, while Abby Krooner had 20 assists, 20 digs and three kills, Kaitlyn Watson finished with 11 digs, Sydney Ellis had 12 digs and Charli Gillum added four kills and three solo blocks.

Bloom-Carroll 3, Licking Valley 0: The Bulldogs opened their season with a 25-5, 25-16, 25-19 non-conference win over the Panthers.

Madison Lacy led the way with 38 assists and three aces, Corinne Knapp had 14 kills, Molly Barber had 10 kills and four blocks, Evelyn Brown chipped in eight kills and four blocks and Mia Matchett added 10 digs and four aces.

GIRLS SOCCER

Fairfield Union 5, Warren 0: The Falcons cruised in their non-conference win. Kyla Gasser led the way with two goals, while Maddi Mitchell, Claire Brown and Rylee Huffer added one goal each. Rachael Wathman and Tyler Teal had one assist each, and Maycee Martindill had four saves in goal.

GOLF

Lancaster competes in OCC Shootout: The Golden Gales traveled to Eaglesticks Golf Course to compete in the OCC Shootout. The Gales shot a 361 which was good for 18th place, and they were led by sophomore Gabe Betts who shot an 83. Junior Zane Brengman shot 90, Jacob Miller shot a 91, Camden Campbell shot a 97, and Devon Schultz shot a 126.

The Gales competed in the Golden Bear Invitational held at Zanesville Country Club. The Gales shot a 383 coming in 16th in a loaded field. Akron Hoban won the event shooting an under-par 284 as a team. Leading the Gales was Zane Brengman with an 87. Gabe Betts shot a 91, Jacob Miller 95, Camden Campbell 110, and Ben Richardson 118.

Lady Gales in OCC: Lancaster competed in the Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division Match No. 2 at Blacklick Woods and finished fifth out of seven teams. Aubrie Bibler led the Gales with a 99, followed by Molly Stedman 109, Brennan Salapek 121, Autumn Hinton 117 and Nirvana Smith 132.

In a non-conference match against Thomas Worthington at Worthington Hills, the Gales fell short, 211-218. Bibler led the Gales and was medalist with a 47, and she was followed by Molly Stedman 50, Brennan Salapek 58, Autumn Hinton 63, Nirvana Smith 65 and Lucy Savage 78.

TENNIS

Lancaster sweeps a pair of OCC matches: The Lady Gales topped Groveport, 5-0. At No. 1 singles, Gracyn Gagne won 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Kynlee Baer won 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 3 singles, Andi Green won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 doubles, Kaylee Akers and Chelsea Hoffman won 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 2 doubles, Tori Wellington and Addy Brown won by default.

Lancaster defeated Central Crossing, 5-0. At No. 1 singles, Gagne won 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Baer won 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 3 singles, Green won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 doubles, Akers and Hoffman won 6-0, 6-1 and at No. 2 doubles, Wellington and Brown won 6-0. 6-0.
