Guardians drop 6-4 decision to Padres

Mar. 9—The Guardians lost to the Padres, 6-4, on March 9 at Goodyear Ballpark.

Hunter Gaddis made his first career spring training start. He pitched three innings and allowed two runs, both in the first.

Zack Collins hit an RBI single, and Tyler Freeman drove in a run with a groundout. Jose Tena and Angel Martinez hit RBI singles in the ninth inning to account for Cleveland's other two runs.

Jose Ramirez hit safely in his sixth straight game.

The Guardians face the Brewers on the road March 10. Triston McKenzie is the scheduled starter. The game will be televised on Bally Sports Great Lakes.
