Gregier steps down as head coach of CMR cross country

C.M. Russell High cross country coach Nathan Gregier is stepping down after almost two decades with the program, Great Falls Public Schools announced Tuesday.

Gregier submitted his resignation to GFPS in order to spend more time with his family, Athletic Director Mike Henneberg said in a release.

A runner himself for the Rustlers and a CMR alumnus, Gregier coached the program for 19 years overall and was the head coach for the last nine seasons.

“The GFPS Athletic Department and C.M. Russell High School thank Nathan for his years of dedication to the athletes of C.M. Russell and the sport of cross country,” Henneberg said in a release. “Under his direction, many young athletes found a home in the program and a love for distance running that continues long after they graduate.”

Gregier coached an individual state champion in Cooper West in 2017 and had many All-State performers, most recently Aizalyn Flaten, who finished sixth last fall and 11th this past season for the CMR girls.

The cross country coaching position will open up on Monday, Dec. 11 and will be listed as “open until filled,” according to GFPS.

Those interested in applying for the position are asked to visit gfps.k12.mt.us for more information, and applications are to be submitted through the district website.
