Grant Delpit excused from Browns preseason game to attend LSU graduation
Grant Delpit is one of the players who helped make LSU one of the top destinations for defensive backs across the country. There is an argument that he could be on the Mount Rushmore of LSU defensive backs.
In 2019, Delpit won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back, and while at LSU he was a two-time, first-team All-SEC honoree. Those accomplishments and his crazy stat line led to him being selected as the No. 44 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Even though he was drafted by the Browns in the second round, Delpit continued working on his education. The Browns were set to face off against the Washington Commanders in a preseason game, but Delpit was excused from the game.
Why? Because he earned his degree in kinesiology at LSU and he was allowed to attend graduation and walk across the stage.

A lot of kids do not take the term “student-athlete” to heart these days, but Delpit did, and it paid off.
