Grant Delpit agrees to contract extension with Cleveland Browns

CLEVELAND — The Browns and safety Grant Delpit have agreed to terms on a contact extension, a league source has confirmed to the Beacon Journal.

Terms of the deal is three years for $36 million, with $23 million guaranteed, the Beacon Journal has confirmed. The Orange and Brown Report's Brad Stainbrook was the first to report.

Delpit was one of the first draft picks for general manager Andrew Berry. The former LSU product was a second-round pick (44th overall) in the 2020 draft.

However, Delpit's NFL career got off to a slow start because of an Achilles tear in training camp that wiped out his rookie season. He has played 44 games over the next three seasons, including 35 starts, entering Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 25-year-old leads the Browns with 74 tackles. He also has six solo tackles.

For his career, Delpit has six interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, 1.5 sacks and 245 career tackles.
