Grading the Boston Celtics and other East teams at the midpoint of the 2023-24 NBA season

Now that the entire NBA has played at least 41 games, or to the uninitiated, half the league’s2023-24 regular season, we can grade how each of the Association’s 30 ball clubs — including the Boston Celtics — have done so far compared to our expectations in preseason.

And for the Celtics, widely seen as one of the teams most likely to be in the thick of a title hunt after making massive moves to shake up their roster in the offseason, things have largely panned out. But in the finer-grained detail of Boston’s season so far, what sort of grade do the Celtics deserve? They tend to win most tilts they play, but have shown some signs of struggling vs. top teams and have let some bad habits creep back in for stretches.

The hosts of the popular ESPN “NBA Today” show saw the crew grade Boston and some of the rest of the top East teams’ season to date.
