Gov. Mifflin, Wilson lose in first round of District 3 Class 4A girls soccer playoffs

Oct. 26—Gov. Mifflin fell to Cumberland Valley 4-1 in the first round of the District 3 Class 4A girls soccer playoffs Tuesday at Mechanicsburg.

The sixth-seeded Eagles (10-3-2) took a 2-0 halftime lead against the 11th-seeded Mustangs (12-9-1).

Mifflin cut it to 2-1 on a goal by Ellie Leffler with 28 minutes left. Cumberland Valley answered by scoring on a penalty kick, then scored again with eight minutes left.

Kassi Gebhard made seven saves for the Mustangs, including four difficult ones to keep Mifflin in it.

Cumberland Valley, which had an 11-8 advantage in shots, will play at third-seeded Warwick Saturday in the quarterfinals. The Warriors beat 14th-seeded Wilson 2-0.

The Bulldogs finished the season at 13-9. No other information was reported.
