PGA Tour betting: Bettors like Cam Young and Will Zalatoris at the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Are bettors enticed by Cam Young’s British Open performance ahead of the PGA Tour's Rocket Mortgage Classic?

Young finished second at the British Open to Cam Smith after eagling the final hole. He’s the No. 4 favorite ahead of this weekend’s tournament in Detroit at +1800 and the preferred choice of bettors entering the event. Young is getting nearly 13% of bets and those bets make up just less than 18% of the total money wagered on the winner of the tournament.

Will Zalatoris is the No. 3 favorite at +1600 and is right behind Young as the second choice of bettors. Zalatoris is getting 12.3% of bets and just over 17% of the money wagered on the winner. Zalatoris wasn’t a factor at the end of the British Open but was in a playoff to win the PGA Championship and a putt away from a U.S. Open playoff.

Patrick Cantlay enters the tournament as the favorite at +1000 while 3M Open winner Tony Finau is the second favorite at +1600. Finau easily won last week’s tournament after third-round leader Scott Piercy had a terrible final round.

Cantlay is +200 to finish in the top five and -110 to finish in the top 10. He’s the only golfer with worse than even odds to finish in the top 10 while Finau is at +275 to get a top five and +130 to get a top 10.

Seven of the top nine favorites to win the tournament are Americans, so Cantlay’s odds of being the top finisher from the United States are only slightly better than his odds to win the tournament at +850. Finau and Zalatoris are both at +1200 to be the top American while Young is at +1600.

Adam Hadwin (+4000 to win) is the favorite to be the top Canadian at +250 while Cam Davis (+3300) is the favorite to be the top Australian at +175.
