Girls basketball roundup: Waverly edges East Lansing, Haslett stays unbeaten

EAST LANSING — Zylah Carter had 13 points, three assists and three steals to lead the Warriors to a CAAC Blue victory East Lansing (2-6, 1-1). Zandaija Scott had nine points and three rebounds and Ivana McCollum had seven points for Waverly (3-4, 1-1).

FOWLER 38, OLIVET 32

FOWLER — Emma Riley finished with 12 points to pace Fowler in a nonleague win over Olivet. Fowler (7-5) had a 14-8 advantage in the third quarter that was key. Payton Otto had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Drue Allen added nine points for Olivet (8-3).

HASLETT 64, ST. JOHNS 46

HASLETT — Isabel Lindo tallied a team-high 19 points, three assists and two steals as the Vikings secured a 10th straight win with a CAAC Red victory over St. Johns. Grace Isenhath notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Ellie Humble scored 10 points and snagged five steals and Maddie Fant chipped in nine points and six rebounds for Haslett (10-0, 4-0). Isabel Thelen finished with a team-high 15 points, Taylor Cook had 14 points and Jocelyn Kotowicz added 11 points for the Redwings (5-5, 2-2). JV score: Haslett d. St. Johns

LANSING CATHOLIC 62, EATON RAPIDS 27

LANSING — Anna Richards led all scorers with 13 points to push the Cougars to a home CAAC White victory over Eaton Rapids. Morgan Wilcox picked up 10 points, Gabby Halliwill notched eight points and dished out six assists and Leah Richards chipped in eight points for Lansing Catholic (8-3, 3-0). WESTPHALIA — Elly Bengel had 16 points and snagged seven steals as Pewamo-Westphalia grabbed a CMAC win over Bath. Sierra Schneider tacked on 12 points and hauled in eight rebounds for the Pirates (7-2, 4-2). Anna Schaibly finished with a team-high 10 points for the Bees (4-7, 2-3).

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 60, POTTERVILLE 42

POTTERVILLE — Natalie Teachworth notched 19 points, six rebounds and five steals to lead the Shamrocks to a CMAC road win over Potterville. Rylee Scheurer picked up 17 points and eight rebounds and Gracelyn Rockey added 10 points for Portland St. Patrick (6-4, 4-2). Kaylee Bush tallied a team-high 20 points and Emily Cates tacked on 12 points for the Vikings (7-4, 1-4).

LAKE ODESSA — Paige Wolverton and Autumn Williams each finished with seven points to pace the Vikings (8-1, 4-0) in their GLAC victory over Lansing Christian (4-6, 3-2).

ITHACA — Delaney Seaman had a team-high 20 points for the Yellowjackets in their Tri-Valley Conference 10-2 victory. Olyvia Sexton added 12 points for Ithaca (10-1, 3-0).

GRAND LEDGE — Ava Scanlon picked up 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Comets to a CAAC Blue win over Okemos. Kiara Page tallied 10 points and eight rebounds and Olivia Navin chipped in seven points and dished out six assists for Grand Ledge (3-7, 1-2). Abigail Jager scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Wolves (1-9, 1-2).

LANSING — Kaylin Howard had a team-high 10 points to lead a balanced attack for the Rams (8-2, 3-0) in their CAAC Blue win. Janae Tyler and Rhema Dozier each added eight points for Holt, while Bailey Hosford, Allison Metzger and Genevieve Nagel scored seven points.

LESLIE 66, MAPLE VALLEY 13

VERMONTVILLE — Reece DeRose led the Blackhawks with a game-high 21 points in their GLAC victory over Maple Valley (0-7, 0-3). Ella Locke tallied 14 points and snagged five steals and Lily Smeiska chipped in 12 points for Leslie (6-5, 1-3).

OVID-ELSIE 49, OTISVILLE LAKEVILLE MEMORIAL 12

OTISVILLE — Evalyn Cole finished with a game-high 15 points to propel the Marauders to a MMAC road win over Otisville LakeVille Memorial (4-7, 2-5). Braeden Tokar scored 12 points and Ava Bates notched eight points, seven rebounds and five assists for Ovid-Elsie (9-2, 7-0).

CORUNNA — Sydnie Gillett scored a team-high 20 points for the Cavaliers as they fell just short in an overtime Flint Metro League loss to Clio (5-4, 2-2). Kira Patrick added 12 points for Corunna (5-5, 1-3).

CAPITAL HOMESCHOOL 57, WEST MICHIGAN HOMESCHOOL 49

Down 16 in the third quarter, Capital Homeschool came back to pick up a victory over West Michigan Homeschool. Bridget Crombie tallied a team-high 18 points and eight rebounds, Karen Nimtz finished with 14 points and nine rebounds and Anna Hoch chipped in 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for Capital Homeschool.
