Girls basketball roundup: CCS Eagles knock off Fourth Baptist, 52-44

Jan. 11—WILLMAR — Margo Klaassen paced the Community Christian School girls basketball team to a win over Fourth Baptist Christian School on Thursday.

Klaassen scored 21 points in the Eagles' 52-44 victory over Fourth Baptist Christian School of Plymouth in the Christian Athletic League matchup.

The sophomore shot 9 of 18 from the field and went 3-for-5 on free throws. Klaassen added 16 rebounds, five assists, a pair of steals and one block.

Gabbie Bollig, a junior, tacked on 10 points for CCS. She went 4-for-7 from the field and made 2 of 4 free throws.

Hope Reid, a sophomore, scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds, tallying an assist and one block for the Eagles. Lexi Nelson, also a sophomore, notched four points, adding nine rebounds, four steals and one assist.

Fourth Baptist Christian School had three scorers in double figures. Sophia Morrell and Clara Rieschl each scored 11 points and JoJo Rieschl had 10.

CCS plays St. John's Prep at 7 p.m. Friday at Collegeville.

Sienna Duininck and Carrie Mulder paced Central Minnesota Christian School in its win against Yellow Medicine East at Granite Falls.

Duininck scored 28 points, adding nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block. Mulder had 25 points with eight rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block.

Bayli Sneller led the Sting with 15 points.

CMCS hosts Canby at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Prinsburg. YME goes to Ortonville at 6 p.m. Friday.

Grace Hennen had 20 points, 11 rebounds and four steals as Minneota cruised past Dawson-Boyd at Minneota.

Dakoda Hennen and Kiersyn Helzebos each had 13 points and Kenadi Arndt added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings.

Allison Estling had 15 points and seven rebounds and Alyssa Swedzinski added 12 points for the Blackjacks.

Dawson-Boyd plays Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda at 6 p.m. Friday at Fulda.

Acelynn Hacker helped lift Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg to a win over Renville County West at Renville.

Hacker, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard, notched 17 points. She added eight rebounds, seven steals and six assists.

Emily Lippert led RCW with 10 points.

KMS plays host to Paynesville at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kerkhoven. RCW plays host to MACCRAY at 6 p.m. Friday.

Brielle Janssen had 22 points, Emma Thein added 17 and Annie Bourne contributed 12 to lead MACCRAY past Lakeview at Cottonwood.

Thein also had nine rebounds and Janssen added seven assists and eight steals. Ella Kienitz had six assists for the Wolverines.

MACCRAY goes to Luverne at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton improved its record to 4-8 with the victory over Lac qui Parle Valley at Tracy.

Jalyn Lee led the Eagles with 14 points and added seven rebounds, six steals, two assists and a pair of blocks. Caleigh Conn had 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists.

LQPV plays host to Lakeview at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Madison.

Brooklyn Fischer contributed 17 points and seven rebounds as Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa held off Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at Grove City.

The teams were tied 19-19 at halftime.

Falcons' Ruby Klinger scored 17 points and had six rebounds.

ACGC plays host to Royalton at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grove City. BBE plays host to Maple Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Belgrade.

Kimball prevailed over visiting Paynesville in the Central Minnesota Conference game.

The Cubs are 5-9 overall and Paynesville drops to 5-8.

Paynesville plays Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kerkhoven.

Minnewaska improved to 9-4 by cruising to the victory at Melrose.

Melrose fell to 3-8.

The Lakers play host to Barnesville at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood.
