Lincoln, Glenwood girls basketball stars hit milestones in Friday wins

Here are the girls basketball results from around Springfield for Friday and Saturday.

BREESE MATER DEI 45, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 30: At Breese, Alyssa Koerkenmeier poured in 11 of her game-high 15 points to lead the Knights (8-2) to a nonconference win.

Izzy Hassebrock led SHG (7-6) with 11 points while Sophie Murphy added seven. The Cyclones trailed 24-13 at halftime.

GILLESPIE 41, HARDIN CALHOUN 37: At Gillespie, Becca Crays triggered a rally in the third quarter with 10 of her game-high 19 points in the frame.

Lauren Bertagnolli helped complete the comeback with two 3s in the final period and finished with 12 points. The Miners trailed 19-12 at halftime and 32-29 by the end of the third.

CARLINVILLE 64, MOUNT OLIVE 21: At Mount Olive, four players reached double figures for the Cavaliers en route to a nonconference win.

Jordyn Loveless and Isabella Tiburzi had 15 points apiece while Kaitlyn Reels and Braley Wiser had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Reels connected on four 3-pointers in the first quarter while the team collectively totaled 10 3s in the win.

Lauren Bailey led Mount Olive with 11 points.

Friday Results

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 53, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 50, OT: Senior Makenna Yeager surpassed 1,000 career points and finished with a game-high 20 points to lead Chatham Glenwood at Jim Belz Gymnasium.

Yeager hit the mark in overtime as the guard scored six points in the extra period. She connected on three 3-pointers and was 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. She hit all four of her free throws in OT.

SHG led 41-39 with 37.3 seconds left after the Cyclones (7-5, 3-2 Central State Eight) had erased a 35-31 deficit after three quarters. A Yeager 3 and SHG going 1-for-2 at the free-throw line in the final minute forced the extra four minutes.

Senior Karley Hawkins added eight points for Glenwood (9-1, 4-0. Ava Bobb and Katelyn Lehnen each had seven for the Titans, who have nine wins in a row since a season-opening 35-31 loss to Pekin.

Callie Huston led SHG with 19 points. Reese Watson added nine while Maggie Fleischli and Liv Redpath each had eight.

LINCOLN 76, ROCHESTER 30: Kloe Froebe surpassed 2,500 career points and the unbeaten Railsplitters posted their 10th running-clock victory in 11 games.

Rochester (7-6, 3-2) committed 14 turnovers in the first quarter against Lincoln’s 1-2-2 zone press and trailed 29-2 by the end of the frame.

The Class 3A No. 2-ranked Railers (11-0, 5-0) have outscored their first five conference opponents 137-24 in the first period.

Froebe, the school’s all-time leading scorer, scored 16 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter at the Rochester Athletic Complex. She now has 2,512 career points. Becca Heitzig delivered eight of her 10 points in the same frame while Jenna Bowman contributed all of her nine points from long range.

Taylor Offer led the Rockets with 13 points.

SOUTHEAST 57, LANPHIER 23: At Lober-Nika Gymnasium, Southeast standout Marisa Gant had the hot hand and scored a game-high 21 points.

Gant made seven field goals and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Navehua Collier scored 10 points and Corrine Pickett dropped in nine for Southeast (4-8, 2-2 CS8).

Nikeya Walker led Lanphier (3-7, 0-3) with eight points.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 66, JACKSONVILLE 15: At Jacksonville, Emma Scheffler finished with six 3-pointers and a game-high 20 points to lead the Senators.

Scheffler made two 3s in the first period and hit four more in the third quarter. She had 14 points in the third. Aniyah Rhinehouse had 10 points and Mal Harris chipped in nine for the Senators (6-5, 3-1 CS8).

HAVANA 37, RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 25: At Havana, the Ducks outscored the visitors 26-14 in the second half to win a nonconference game.

Josie Hughes scored eight of her game-high 11 points in the fourth period to pace Havana (5-6). Lauren Herbst and Kaydi Miller combined for 10 second-half points and each finished with seven apiece.
