GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Dragons win 10th in a row, clinch share of MSC title

Jan. 23—SELLERSBURG — Silver Creek won its 10th straight game, while also clinching a share of the Mid-Southern Conference title, with a 69-38 victory over visiting Eastern on Saturday night.

The Dragons led 18-6 at the end of the first quarter, 32-15 at halftime and 55-28 through three periods on the way to the win.

The triumph helped Silver Creek (16-4, 7-1) split the league title with Scottsburg (18-3, 7-1), which had a forfeit its overtime win over Brownstown Central back on Nov. 24.

"I am so proud of this senior class," Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen said of Kiki Gant and Jazmyn Robey. "They have not always had it easy. They made tons of sacrifice waiting for their turn, and man have they delivered. They're conference champions for only the third time in school history, but more importantly they're great role models."

Sophomore standout Brooklynn Renn scored a game-high 19 points while also snaring 13 rebounds and blocking five shots to lead the way for the Dragons. Additionally, Gant added 13 points, seven assists and six steals while Emma Schoen tallied 12 points and five rebounds.

Katie Hauner netted 11 to lead the Musketeers (2-19, 0-8).

Silver Creek (16-4, 7-1) will close out its regular season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Columbus East.
