Gilbert Arenas gives some advice to Nets’ Ben Simmons

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is reportedly fully recovered from the nerve impingement in his back that ended his 2022-23 season in March and as such, he is ready to show what he can do next season.

With news that Simmons is ready to “dominate” the league and that he is starting to get his confidence back, there are many wondering if this is the same story as the past two years when the public were shown images of Simmons’ summer workouts just for him to disappoint.

While some fans want Simmons to show that he’s back before they believe in him again, there are others who have believed in Simmons all along. The thing that was holding Simmons back was his injuries and as long as those are truly in the past, he should be poised for quite a comeback season.

Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas was recently asked on his show, Gil’s Arena, how he would coach Simmons and this was his response:

“I personally would tell him (Simmons), keep driving until somebody actually stops you. Until someone makes you change directions, I need your foot in the paint on every fast break. You taking the ball to the paint every, – you’re 6’11”, athletic, we don’t even know if you’re right handed or left handed… You can pass, so it’s like, let someone stop you. I need two feet in the paint. And from there, if he’s going to the paint every single time, then he’s gonna realize how close he is.”
