Giants vs. Seahawks: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 4

The New York Giants will host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in their Week 4 matchup.

At 1-2 and a difficult schedule in the coming weeks, Monday night’s matchup has suddenly become very important to the Giants’ season.

The Giants will hope to get healthy and get some of their top players back to help contribute on Monday night.

Here are three reasons for optimism heading into Monday Night Football.

Daniel Jones' success coming off a loss

In Week 2, with their dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Daniel Jones improved 8-1-1 in his last 10 games coming off of a loss,

In the win, Jones improved to an 11-1 passing touchdown to interception ratio and five rushing touchdowns in games coming off a loss.

The Giants will need to get off to a faster start as the Seahawks will likely not allow a 20-point comeback like the Cardinals did in Week 2. However, Jones’ success coming off a loss is certainly something Giants fans can feel optimistic about.

This time, it's in their house

The Giants fell short to the Seahawks last season, 27-13, in Week 8 after starting 6-1.

Certainly, the advantage of being at MetLife Stadium is not one of the bigger advantages in the NFL.

However, in this case, it’s a big advantage for the Giants not to be traveling to the West Coast for the third straight week. Additionally, avoiding playing at Lumen Field, which is one of the tougher places to play in the NFL, can’t be overlooked in this matchup.

With their backs to the wall and the Giants desperate for a win Monday night with a tough schedule ahead, they are certainly lucky to be hosting this game.

Giants offense should be able to score points

The Giants’ season has been a weird one so far, especially on the offensive side of the ball. After failing to score in the first six quarters of the season, the offense exploded for 31 points in the second half against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

Without Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas last week, the Giants struggled mightily to get anything going on offense.

However, after playing two of the toughest defenses in the NFL in two of the first three weeks, this week’s opponent allows the Giants an opportunity to put some points on the board. The Seahawks are giving up 29.3 points per game through three games this season, the fourth-worst in the NFL.

The Seahawks defense also has just five sacks on the year.

The Giants should look to capitalize this week against Seattle’s defense, especially if they can get Andrew Thomas and Saquon Barkley back.
