Giants sign Angel Pagan to four-year, $40M deal
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The San Francisco Giants and center fielder Angel Pagan on Monday agreed to terms on a four-year, $40-million contract, according to a source close to negotiations.
Not a week after B.J. Upton signed for $75.25 million over five years with the Atlanta Braves, the market for center fielders continued to flourish with Pagan. Josh Hamilton and Michael Bourn remain available, with the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, all heavy hitters, still looking for outfielders.
After winning their second World Series in three seasons, the Giants had made the re-signings of Pagan and second baseman Marco Scutaro their priorities. Scutaro remains unsigned.

Pagan, 31, batted .288, stole 29 bases and led the National League with 15 triples in 2012, his first season in San Francisco. A year ago, the Giants acquired Pagan for outfielder Andres Torres and right-hander Ramon Ramirez. Torres was non-tendered Friday.
