Georgia’s leading returning rusher dealing with knee injury

Georgia football is dealing with another injury in the running back room. The Bulldogs returning leading rusher, Daijun Edwards, was seen in a knee brace at practice on Wednesday during the media viewing period.

We learned on Wednesday that sophomore running back Branson Robinson will miss the 2023 season with a torn patella tendon and now Edwards’ availability for the season opener against UT Martin is in doubt.

We don’t know the specifics of the injury as head coach Kirby Smart did not comment on Edwards’ injury after practice, but we do know Edwards was limited during the spring with an undisclosed injury.

Graham Coffey of Dawgs Central reported that Edwards is dealing with an MCL sprain. The good news is that he was still participating on Wednesday, but only in a limited fashion with other injured players.

Senior Kendall Milton, who finished third on the team in rushing last season, has been limited with a hamstring injury.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Paul is working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in fall camp last year. Paul is expected to play this season, but how many reps the Georgia coaching staff will allow Paul is unclear.

The tailbacks that are currently healthy are true freshman Roderick Robinson, a former four-star recruit, redshirt sophomore walk-on Cash Jones and Tennessee walk-on transfer Len’Neth Whitehead.
