GameCenter final: UND 3, SCSU 3, tie

Jan. 20—ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Cameron Berg scored with 6:58 to go in the third to help UND grab a 3-3 tie with St. Cloud State in the series finale. The Huskies earned the extra point in the NCHC standings by winning a three-person shootout.

First star: Cameron Berg, UND, game-tying goal.

Second star: Veeti Miettinen, SCSU, goal, shootout goal.

Third star: Jayden Perron, UND, 2 assists.

SCSU 1, UND 0 — Kyler Kupka 9 (Josh Luedtke) 7:31. St. Cloud State swarms UND in the opening seven minutes of the game and finally gets rewarded as Luedtke cuts across the slot and leaves a feed backdoor for Kupka, who taps it in for his ninth of the season.

SCSU 1, UND 1 — Jackson Blake 15 7:39. UND answers St. Cloud State's first goal in just eight seconds as Husky defenseman Jack Peart fumbles a puck in the neutral zone, Blake picks it up, skates in on a breakaway and launches a wrist shot off the post and in. It's his third goal and fourth point of the weekend.

SCSU 2, UND 1 — Grant Ahcan 3 (Zach Okabe, Dominic Basse) 17:01. At the tail end of a shift, Blake and Owen McLaughlin go on a two-on-two rush. McLaughlin shoots far pad, but Husky goalie Dominic Basse makes the save. Okabe picks up the rebound, spots Ahcan behind the UND defense and sends him on a breakaway. UND goalie Ludvig Persson gets a piece of it, but not enough and the Huskies take the lead.

SCSU 2, UND 2 — Jake Livanavage 2 (Jayden Perron, Louis Jamernik V) 2:03. UND gets a fortunate bounce to tie it up when Livanavage wheels around the offensive zone and spots Ben Strinden wide open on the back door. He attempts to pass it, but the puck hits the stick of St. Cloud State defenseman Tynan Ewart and deflects past Basse, who had already moved over to play the pass.

SCSU 3, UND 2 — Veeti Miettinen 13 (Verner Miettinen, Zach Okabe) 4:47. The game doesn't stay tied for long as St. Cloud State comes down the other way on a rush and Veeti snipes it from the slot, after a drop pass from his brother, for his 13th goal of the season.

SCSU 3, UND 3 — Cameron Berg 12 (Jayden Perron, Garrett Pyke) 13:02. UND ties it up again on another good bounce. This time, it's earned with a goal-mouth scramble. The Huskies keep it out of the net, but Berg collects a loose puck behind the net and banks it in off of Basse.

Hunter Johannes is out with a lower-body injury he sustained Friday night. Johannes did not play in the last 6:45 of the series opener. There's no immediate word on the extent of his injury. . . Jackson Kunz is moving up to Johannes' spot in the lineup. It appears the coaches are trying to keep Lines 2 and 3 in tact and move a similar big-bodied player to fill in for Johannes on the top line. . . Portz is playing for the first time since Nov. 18.
