GameCenter final: Omaha 3, UND 2

Mar. 8—OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha used a pair of second-period goals in the span of 1:16 to beat UND 3-2 in the series opener in Baxter Arena.

First star: Victor Mancini, Omaha, goal.

Second star: Simon Latkoczy, Omaha, 32 saves.

Third star: Jacob Guevin, Omaha, goal.

Omaha 1, UND 0 — Jacob Guevin 3 (Jack Randl, Griffin Ludtke) 9:05. UND defenseman Keaton Pehrson turns the puck over with a backhand pass to Jack Randl, who gets a great look but misses it high and wide. Omaha retains possession and gets it to Guevin, who snaps a point shot past UND goaltender Ludvig Persson's blocker.

Omaha 1, UND 1 — Cameron Berg 20 (Jake Livanavage, Jackson Blake) 12:29 (pp). It doesn't take long for Berg to feel right at home in Baxter. Berg snaps a shot from the top of the left circle on the power play for his 20th goal of the season. Blake assists on it to officially break the NCHC record for most points in a conference season. That's No. 36 for him. The previous record-holders were UND's Brock Boeser and DU's Bobby Brink.

Omaha 2, UND 1 — Tanner Ludtke 10 (Nolan Krenzen, Joaquim Lemay) 10:11. Ludtke skates the puck on the rush up the right side and attempts a short-area pass. UND defenseman Nate Benoit picks it off, but throws the puck right back to Ludtke, who skates it to the crease and snipes it.

Omaha 3, UND 1 — Victor Mancini 4 (Nolan Sullivan, Zach Urdahl) 11:27. Omaha digs a puck out of the corner and nobody covers Mancini in the slot. Sullivan finds him and Mancini finishes.

Omaha 3, UND 2 — Logan Britt 6 (Riese Gaber, Abram Wiebe) 12:49. Britt carries the puck up the left side, holds it below the goal line, then fires it off the back of Maverick goaltender Simon Latkoczy and in the net to pull UND within one.

No scoring.
