Manchester United have it all to do to secure their place in the last-16 of the Champions League after another night of frustration. The Red Devils led 2-0 and 3-1 during an epic six-goal encounter with Galatasaray in a wet Istanbul, only to be held to a potentially costly draw that leaves their hopes of progressing out of their own hands and hanging by a thread.

United's only possible route through to the knockout stages now involves them beating dominant Group A winners Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on matchday six next month, while also hoping that rivals FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray play out a draw in Denmark on the same night. While not impossible, it is a very tough task and leaves Erik ten Hag's side relying on favours from elsewhere.
