Fubo Inks Streaming Distribution Deal With YES Network

As the Yankees get set to open the 2024 MLB season in Houston, the sports-centric streaming service Fubo has inked a new distribution deal with YES Network.

The deal will make Yankees games and YES shoulder programming available to Fubo subscribers throughout the RSN’s footprint, which covers the entirety of New York state and Connecticut, as well as northern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.

Fubo has added YES to its $79.99/month basic tier and the beefed-up Elite package, which costs an additional $10 per billing cycle. The streamer reported a subscriber base of 1.6 million customers in its most recent earnings report.

While financial terms were not disclosed, it’s likely that YES will siphon off at least some of Fubo’s monthly RSN fee, which tops off at an additional $14.99 per month.

Fubo streams more than 55,000 live sporting events each year, many of which are available in the ultra-high-def 4K standard. The service’s basic package features 35 RSNs, a roster that includes the Bally Sports networks as well as indie powerhouses MSG, SNY and NESN.

The Fubo deal is an opportunity for YES to reach more cord-cutters/-nevers in its four-state footprint, a niche once filled by YouTube TV. Google’s streaming platform dropped YES in March 2020. Hulu walked away from its deal with YES later that same year.

YES is also available within its stalking grounds via DirecTV Stream, which has a monthly plan costing $108.99. Unlike Fubo, DirecTV Stream does not impose an RSN fee.

The Yanks will take their first cuts at Minute Maid Park Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:10 p.m. ET.
