The Florida State softball team begins its 2024 NCAA tournament run today against Chattanooga.
FSU (43-14, 19-5 in ACC) is the No. 15 seed in the 2024 NCAA softball tournament and host of the Tallahassee Regional. Coach Lonni Alameda's team is a regular in the NCAA tournament, making the Women's College World Series championship series two of the past three seasons and winning it all in 2018. These Seminoles are one of the top offensive teams in the country, helmed by 60-RBI seasons from senior Kalei Harding (.337 average, 14 home runs) and ACC Freshman of the Year Jaysoni Beachum (.436, 15).
Chattanooga (42-14, 16-5) won the SOCON tournament to clinch its spot in the NCAA tournament. The Mocs have the 49th-best offense in the NCAA at 5.43 runs per game and the best pitching in SOCON with a 2.81 ERA, led by SOCON Pitcher of the Year Peja Goold (12-3, 2.74 ERA, 121 strikeouts). Joining Goold on the SOCON first-team are Camryn Cernuto (.359, 40 runs) and Kendall Forsythe (.340, 44 RBIs).
