Freshmen lead Pack golf team to fifth place in Bearcat Invitational

Mar. 2—MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County boys golf team counted the scores of four freshmen and placed fifth in the 24th annual Bearcat Invitational held Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club.

The Lowndes A team was first with a 300 and its B team was second with a 306.

Smiths Station of Alabama was third with a 310 and Tift County placed fourth with 321.

The Packers finished two shots back of the Blue Devils at 323.

The tournament drew 14 teams.

The Packers got a 79 from both Peyton Collins and Leighton Hood.

Reese Hood shot 82 and Jacob Rowell turned in an 83.

Senior James Fagan shot 89.

The Packers were without two of their top players, senior David Strange and sophomore Michael Hall.

Coach Andrew Eunice and Hall will play next weekend in the annual Pot o' Gold Pro-am at Sunset Country Club.

The Packers next competition will be on Monday, March 11, in Lee County's Trojan Invitational to be held at River Pointe Golf Club in Albany.

The Colquitt County boys will compete at home on Saturday, March 30, when they play host to the annual Packer Invitational.
