After taking three of four in Miami to start the season, the Mets hit a bump in the road as the Milwaukee Brewers swept New York in a three-game series, capped by a walk-off home run by Garrett Mitchell off of Adam Ottavino in Wednesday’s matinee.

Before returning to Citi Field for Friday's home opener, Francisco Lindor reaffirmed his belief in his team in the early days of the 2023 season.

“I believe in this team,” he said. “I believe in every guy we have. We have the it factor.”

Despite their recent struggles, Lindor would rather experience the ups and downs in April rather than during a pennant race as the season goes on.

“We don’t want to go out there and lose,” Lindor said. “With that being said, I’m glad it’s happening now and not later in the year. I don’t want it to happen at all. We have to bounce back. We have to come back with a better show than we’ve had the last few days.”

Pete Alonso addressed the need for improvement after the team’s performance in Milwaukee.

“This is the big leagues,” he said. “You get exposed when you don’t execute. We didn’t play the way that we want to here in Milwaukee.”

The Mets host the Marlins at 1:10 p.m. on Friday at Citi Field after taking the series in Miami to start the season.

“It’s always great to play in your own park,” Alonso said. "I’m sure people are going to be super excited to have baseball back in Queens. It’s going to be a great day.”
