Four on the tee: UNF senior Nick Gabrelcik voted to a fourth ASUN Golfer of the Year award

University of North Florida senior Nick Gabrelcik tied an ASUN record last year when he was named Golfer of the Year by coaches for a third time.

He now has it to himself.

The ASUN announced on Monday that Gabrelcik was voted by the league's coaches to the honor yet another time, completing a four-for-four sweep in the league's top honor. He broke a tie with former UNF player Sean Dale (2010, 2012 and 2013) and Dawson Armstrong of Lipscomb (2016, 2017 and 2018).

Gabrelcik, a native of Trinity, has nine victories, 23 top-five finishes and 32 top-10s, all UNF records. He placed among the top-10 in all 10 events he started this season, with seven top-10s and victories in the Gator Invitational and Williams Cup.

His scoring average entering the NCAA regionals is 69.00. Gabrelcik is fourth on the current PGA Tour University ranking and 10th on the Spikemark Golf national ranking.

In addition to Gabrelcik, UNF senior Robbie Higgins earned his third All-ASUN spot, becoming the fifth UNF player to record three first-team selections. It's also the first time that UNF teammates were named first-team All-ASUN three years in a row.

Higgins had a scoring average of 70.45 in 11 starts, with five top-10 finishes. He won the Sea Best Invitational and was third in the Ka'anapali Classic in Hawaii, setting personal bests of 63 for 18 holes and 14-under 199 for 54 holes.

Junior Andrew Riley, a Creekside graduate, is on the second team and Chase Carroll, a Middleburg graduate, is on the All-Freshman team.

Joining Carroll was Brody Stevenson of Florida Gulf Coast, a Bartram Trail graduate.

JU senior Alexandre Vandermoten made the second team.

UNF has 40 total All-ASUN players, the most in conference history. The Ospreys have had at least one player on the first team every year since 2010 and Carroll gives UNF a member of the All-Freshman team for the ninth year in a row.

The Ospreys will learn their NCAA tournament destination on Wednesday shortly after 2 p.m.
