Free-agent first baseman Joey Votto, who has spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the Cincinnati Reds, replied to a report via Twitter from USA TODAY'S Bob Nightengale that three teams are expressing interest in him by correcting the reporter and tweeting that a fourth team, the Care Bears, are intrigued and need a Grumpy Bear.

Later, Votto deleted a tweet with a GIF of Grumpy Bear, adding, "oh no, there already is a Grumpy Bear" and suggesting that the Care Bears don't need him after all.

Votto, who played for the Reds from 2007 to 2023, poked fun at himself in November for not winning a Gold Glove.

The Reds announced in November that they wouldn't pick up Votto's 2024 club option.
