Four Seminole targets to announce commitments on the Fourth of July. Here's where FSU stands.
A pair of commitments Saturday saw Florida State football's recruiting class jump 10 spots in the 247 Sports Composite team recruiting rankings.
Four-star athlete Ricky Knight III and four-star defensive lineman DD Holmes both picked the Seminoles over Miami and Maryland, respectively in separate announcements Saturday.
The two commitments helped FSU jump from 26 to 16 in the 247 rankings.
Tuesday − the Fourth of July − could be another big day for FSU head coach Mike Norvell and his staff.
Four more targets are set to announce their commitments.
The Seminoles enter as the leaders for two of the prospects and will have their hat on the table for the other two.
Here's a look at the four 2024 recruits who will announce their decision and where FSU stands.
Calling my shot: 4th of July firework predictions for Florida State football this season
Noon: 4-star tight end Kylan Fox
FSU seemed to be in the driver's seat for 4-star tight end Kylan Fox heading into his official visit June 23-25. However, following the visit, his recruitment started to favor UCF. He did not speak to the media following the visit.
Fox, who is ranked as the No. 18 athlete and 229th overall ranked player in the 2024 class, is close friends with 5-star FSU TE commit Landen Thomas.
The two spoke of playing together, but that does not seem like it will come to fruition.
The Seminoles will likely keep an eye on the announcement from the tight end from Grayson High in Loganville, Georgia, but expect him to pick the Knights.
The Pick: UCF
1 p.m.: 4-star wide receiver James Madison II
Madison, a 6-foot-3, 190-pounder with a 6-foot-8 wingspan, had been long seen as an FSU-lean.
Following his visit, he spoke highly of the Seminoles.
"It was good," Madison said. "It was reassuring about the relationships just to be able to come back and be around the coaching staff again and some commitments so it was nice to be back."
However, in recent weeks, Madison has been trending toward Missouri.
According to On3's Chad Simmons, the Tigers are in the driver’s seat heading into Tuesday.
Madison, who attends St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, is originally from Missouri and it would be a homecoming for him.
The Pick: Missouri
5 p.m.: 4-star wide receiver Elijah Moore
Elijah Moore, a 3-star receiver from Good Counsel High in Olney, Maryland, named FSU his leader over Ohio State following his official visit June 23-25.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver was seen as an Ohio State lean following a visit to Columbus, Ohio, on June 2.
However, he said he almost committed to FSU during the visit.
According to 247 Sports Composite, he is the No. 64 receiver and 432nd overall ranked recruit in 2024.
"Florida State's been on me all four years of my high school career," Moore said after his visit.
"They were my second offer in eighth grade and they've stuck with me. Coach Norvell, I trust him. I trust Coach (Ron) Dugans and it's like a family up there. I trust everybody."
The Pick: Florida State
7:30 p.m.: 3-star defensive back Rydarrius Morgan
Three-star safety Rydarrius Morgan officially visited campus the first week of June. However, it's been the recent days that he has been trending towards FSU.
Morgan, who attends Central High in Phenix, Alabama, is ranked as the 55th-best safety and 564th overall prospect in the 2024 class. He is listed at 6-feet 175 pounds.
FSU, Miami, Auburn Mississippi State, Alabama and Cincinnati were the teams "Red" named as his top six June 21. The Tigers and Hurricanes are the expected top three behind the Seminoles.
Morgan is teammates with five-star wide receiver and FSU target Cam Coleman.
The Pick: Florida State
