Fort LeBoeuf assistant football coach fired after win vs. General McLane. What we know

There won't be a forfeit or any other disciplinary action, but Fort LeBoeuf is down one assistant football coach after an incident leading up to a Week 2 game at General McLane.

The Fort LeBoeuf School District dismissed the assistant coach after investigating the incident, which took place in the days leading up to the Bison beating General McLane 38-28 in a Region 5 football game Sept. 1. The school district is not releasing the name of the coach based on it being a personnel issue.

The Times-News was the first to report the firing on X, formerly Twitter, after receiving confirmation from Fort LeBoeuf. Superintendent Rick Emerick released the following statement Tuesday.

“Given this is a personnel matter, I am unable to discuss specific details. However, I can share that an assistant football coach was relieved of duty today because of conduct that was deemed unacceptable and inconsistent with the advancement of sportsmanship within our athletic programs.”

Fort LeBoeuf coaches and administration would not officially comment about specific details of the incident.

General McLane superintendent Matt Lane also released a statement.

“General McLane recently became aware of inappropriate conduct by a member of the FLB football coaching staff. GM conducted an investigation and shared its findings with the Ft. LeBoeuf School District, who conducted its own investigation and acted accordingly. Although the action was unprofessional and violated the spirit of sportsmanship, the GM administration and football coaching staff do not believe at this time that the infraction in any way impacted the result of the game on Friday night.”

General McLane officials confirmed that the school will not pursue a forfeit win.
