Arizona Cardinals, UTEP alum Will Hernandez lends helping hand to HS football player

Former UTEP offensive lineman Will Hernandez recently made a key contribution outside of the gridiron.

Hernandez, a guard for the Arizona Cardinals, recently helped Arizona high school student and football player Jose De Leon with a custom fitted helmet.

The story was reported by Zach Gershman, an Arizona Cardinals team writer and personality.

De Leon had trouble finding a helmet last season that would properly protect him and fit him, an article on the Arizona Cardinals website stated.

De Leon got in contact with the Cardinals, Hernandez found out about his plight and through a coordinated effort with Riddell, De Leon received his fitted helmet.

Hernandez later offered to provide guidance to De Leon leading up to the 2024 season and didn't ask for anything in return, other than De Leon put the helmet to good use.

Hernandez played at UTEP from 2013-17, was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft and joined Arizona in 2022.
