Former LSU linebacker Bradie James makes College Football Hall of Fame ballot

The Tigers have put 10 players and five coaches into the College Football Hall of Fame during the program’s storied history.

That number will become 11 in December when running back Kevin Faulk is inducted as part of the 2022 class, but LSU could be set to add another in 2023. Last week, the National Football Foundation announced the list of 176 former players and 42 former coaches between the FBS and the lower levels who will be on the ballot, and one former Tigers player cracked that list.

Linebacker Bradie James, a Monroe native who played for the Tigers from 1999-02, received recognition. James was a First Team All-American in 2002 and received First Team All-SEC honors in 2001 and 2002. His 154 tackles in his final season still stand as the single-season program record.

He was a fourth-round pick in 2003 and played in the NFL for 10 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans, finishing his career with 821 tackles, 16 sacks, two interceptions and 10 forced fumbles.

In total, only 1,056 players have ever been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. This year’s class will be announced at some point in 2023 with more details coming later. Earning a spot won’t be easy, as there are a number of high-profile players also eligible including Tim Tebow and Reggie Bush.
