Former LSU coach Will Wade closing in on deal to return to coaching in Louisiana

Former LSU basketball coach Will Wade may be coming back to the state of Louisiana, it just won’t be in Baton Rouge.

According to a report from The Athletic, Wade is nearing a deal to become the head coach at McNeese State, which fired previous coach John Aiken earlier in the week. Wade was also previously the head coach at Chattanooga and VCU.

He spent five seasons as the Tigers’ coach, leading the team to a regular season SEC title and Sweet 16 appearance in 2018-19. He led the team to an NCAA Tournament berth last season but was fired before the postseason as a notice of allegations from the NCAA charged him with five Level I violations.

Wade had a 105-51 record during his time at LSU.
