Former Kossuth baseball coach passes away after cancer battle
Oct. 5—Former Kossuth head baseball coach Daniel Threadgill passed away on Tuesday after nearly a two-year battle with colon cancer. He was 41.
Threadgill last coached the Aggies to a 19-12 mark and a third round Class 3A playoff appearance in 2021 before resigning shortly after the season due to his condition.
The 12-year head coaching veteran spent his first four seasons at Kossuth, leading them to a 79-44 record over that span and captured the 3A state championship in 2013 — a year after finishing as state runner-up.
He then took the head coaching job at Vancleave from 2014-2017, where he led the Bulldogs to a 50-47 record and three straight playoff appearances, before coming back to Kossuth for his final stint over the past four years.
The Hatley native had nine playoff appearances with a career 184-120 record and one state title, where he was named the Daily Journal's Coach of the Year in 2013.
He was an assistant on Nettleton's championship run in 2007.
